A Short Summary of the Issues Before You Vote

The best indicator of what people will do is to look at what they have done.

If elected, here is what my team will do:

• Keep local tax increases below inflation every year as was the case when I was mayor
• Prioritize work on roads and sidewalks based on expert analysis.
• Lower fees to maximize usage of our facilities. Higher fees do not increase revenue if fewer people use the facilities.
• Bring back the highly demanded Haunted Mansion, the summer concerts in Hampstead Park, and other events.
• Revitalize our playground equipment.
• Beautify our medians and parks to live up to our ‘5 Fleurons’ designation again.
• Protect every park and greenspace from development.
• Stop demolishing homes in Old Hampstead and replacing them with houses TRIPLE the size. They destroy green space, mature trees, and the town’s unique character; reducing home values long term.
• And much, much more…

Spend our tax dollars to benefit YOU

• We will drop council salaries to 2019 levels adjusted for inflation. That is an almost 50% drop from current levels.
• We will return to my policy of one conference per councillor per year in Canada ONLY.
• There will be modest spending levels for meals and hotels as they were when I was mayor.

I hope everyone will vote for me and the council candidates on my team: Vanessa Blandford, Norman Levine, Doris Steinberg and Luc Vernhes. Without a majority on council, I will be powerless. I and my team are running for the residents of Hampstead, not for ourselves. Turnout in the last election was less than 45%. If we want a different result, we need a larger turnout.

The weather will be excellent for the advance poll this Sunday, October 26. Hampstead Community Centre noon to 8pm. Please vote and share this article with as many people as possible. Together, we can get back the Hampstead we love.
